Meet Bess, a sweet and gentle yellow Labrador who’s ready to find her forever home! At just 2–3 years old and weighing 55 pounds, Bess has already shown her strength and adaptability, having been rescued from a shelter just in time. Now, she’s enjoying her second chance at life and settling into her foster home beautifully. Bess has a warm and friendly personality, getting along well with her foster sibling and others, even a small dog she recently met. While her feelings about cats are still uncertain, her gentle demeanor is a promising sign. She’s also potty trained, doesn't chew and has leash manners and knows basic commands like “sit” and “lay down.” As a food-motivated pup, she’s always eager to learn and please. Though she’s okay with short periods in a crate, Bess would do best in a home where someone is around most of the day or works from home. She loves having a fenced yard to run and play in—it’s her happy place! Bess is also learning to ride in cars, though she can get a little anxious around vehicles and will need time to grow comfortable. Bess’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. She likely had several litters of puppies before, and she has a slight limp in her right elbow from an old injury that isn't very noticeable unless she overdoes it. She has no problems running and playing. The vet gave her an injection for arthritis, and thus far, it's done wonders for her. Keeping her weight in check and exploring low-impact activities like swimming will help keep her weight low, healthy, and happy. This lovable girl has done wonderfully at doggie daycare and even joined her foster mom at work, where she was a fantastic furry co-worker. Bess is ready to bring her sweet, loyal, and resilient spirit into a home where she can thrive. To adopt Bess, complete our online pre-adoption application.
