Meet Billy Dean, a handsome 3-year-old male Labrador weighing around 60-65 pounds. Billy Dean is a calm, sweet, loving, and easy-going gentleman who’s ready to find his forever home. He tested well with other dogs at the shelter, displaying good manners and being polite. While he walks okay on a leash (he tugs a bit), he’s great about waiting to potty outside.
Billy Dean does have one cute but quirky habit we’re working to correct: he tap dances with his front paws, especially when he’s excited to go in or out of a door! It’s adorable, but we’re teaching him to "sit," "wait," and "no" to stop this behavior. He’s incredibly intelligent and catches on quickly, so we’re confident he’ll master it in no time.
At first glance, Billy’s coat showed signs of neglect, possibly from spending too much time outside. We want so much more for him—he deserves to be cherished and loved as a member of a family. Billy has quickly mastered crate and potty training, with no accidents. He takes treats very gently and is calm enough to be around kids without jumping on anyone.
Billy Dean is truly an amazing boy who’s ready to be a loyal companion in a loving home. He’s fully medically vetted: neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm tested (negative), placed on prevention, and microchipped.
Billy Dean is available for adoption locally in North Alabama and surrounding areas through our foster-to-adopt program. Out-of-state families are welcome to apply as well. If you’re interested in adopting this wonderful boy, please visit our website to complete our online pre-adoption application.
